課程概述 Course Description:
This course is all about trumpet playing, to understand and focus on the mechanisms and synchronization of all the elements that constitute the embouchure development for a very specific purpose: to be able to play everything with a sound concept in a specific style of interpretation.
教學目標 Course Objectives:
The students need to have the control to cover the basic techniques and develop their own styles. They need to have the capability to play with different interpretations even for the same piece. By practicing to achieve those goals, they will understand better of theirs defects and good quality, so they will have their own ideas to solve the problems.
To become a skilled trumpet player with a good level, the first key is to keep the daily practice routine, and to practice smart. It is essential for good musicians to understand the great value inside themselves, and to play with sincerity and complete frankness. One last thing, always keep the passion for the music!

Objective:
My objectives for the first year are that the students need to control the B flat trumpet from the low to the high register (F sharp deep with acute C with the top of the range), and have a clean tone without parasite in the sound. That’s why the students must understand and be aware of the importance of the respiratory system in order to breathe correctly, and in this way to understand the behavior of the instrument and the general position of the body.
They also have to control the simple, double and triple staccato, and to have a little bit knowledge about the orchestral excerpts, and also to know how to use the transposition.
For the first year the students must understand the regular practice routine is very important for progress.

Objectives
For the second year, the students must have the capability to control the C trumpet (C pedal with acute C with the top of the range), and always play with a clean tone and open sound. They will need to play with different colors and endurance for discovering and being able to play the new repertoires.
It will be interesting to help the students discover the barock repertoire for the piccolo trumpet as well as the second trumpet scores (not to high for the moment) of Bach, Handel. For this they always need to play with a clean sonority without parasite and also with good intonation.

Objectives
The objectives for the third year are always about the sonority control, an open sound with colors, and the flexibility to control different dynamic—the goal is to play freely for the “mf” and pursue the dark sound in the “p” and “mp”. I believe they can achieve the goal by practicing with the suggesting repertoires. The students must practice various types of attacks and different combinations of fingerings. Schlossberg technical method is a good source to develop the velocity, so they can feel more comfortable and flexible to play the piece like Bach Partitas. This practice is to interpret and play the Partitas like violin or cello instead of brass instruments.
Practicing the contemporary music is also my suggestion for the second semester, and they will learn to play with the effect of sounds (with flutter tongue etc…).
