    一、教學目標:

This course teaches students the science of speech production and perception, including (i) the basic properties of speech sounds; (ii) the physiological properties of the speech-producing apparatus; and (iii) phonetic transcriptions. The sound patterns of English are the main focus of this course; other sounds found in the world’s languages will be taught as well. Throughout the semester, students are expected to learn the articulatory and acoustic features of speech sounds, and what linguistic properties distinguish various sounds in English.
