    一、教學目標:

Pragmatics is concerned with the study of meaning as communicated by a speaker (or writer) and interpreted by a listener (or reader), i.e. the study of the relationships between linguistic forms and the users of those forms. This course is designed for the beginning students to establish basic background for pragmatics, especially discourse analysis. The content of this course contains the introduction of deixis, inference, entailment, presupposition, implicature, cooperation, speech acts and politeness. The main purpose is to let the students to be familiar with some basic ideas used in pragmatics. We hope that the students can be familiar with how language is used in daily life.
