一、教學目標:Students will foster and understanding of larger Classical forms, as well as thematic unity, cyclic forms, and some uses of form in songs. They will then learn to distinguish between music of different style periods. Although the focus will be on music of the Western art music tradition, the same analysis techniques can be applied to any type of music. These studies will thus enable students to recognize and intelligently discuss specific differences between all types of music.

三、教材內容:Basic techniques of analysis will be discussed, then used to analyze representative works of the tonal music repertory.
四、實施方法: Class time will be spent discussing and using techniques to analyze music examples from various style periods. Most homework will be the analysis of music, though one, or more creative homework projects may also be assigned. Tests, quizzes and projects will include the analysis of music. Quizzes may also be used.
五、評量方式: (If needed, the following percentages may be changed.)
50% = 作業、聽寫活動、小考
10% = Variations Project
40% = Final Exam
