About Us

  • The department was established in August 1972 (Minguo 61) and has admitted one class of new students annually since its founding. In August 1981 (Minguo 70), an evening in-service teacher training program was added, admitting one class of new students; however, this program was later discontinued. A master's program was established in 1995 (Minguo 84), followed by the launch of an in-service master's degree program for teachers in 1999 (Minguo 88). That same year, the two-year Applied Electronics Division was founded and successfully transformed into the Department of Electronic Engineering in the 2006 academic year. In the 2007 academic year, the department was approved to establish a doctoral program. In the 2016 academic year, a part-time master's program was launched, and the in-service master's degree program for teachers was discontinued in the same year.
  • Over the past forty-plus years since its founding, the department has continuously grown and developed under the leadership of successive department chairs, including Huang Guan-Fei, Huang Xiang-Wu, Liu Jin-Fu, Chen Zhong-Zhi, Jiang Xin-He, Lian Kun-De, Zhou Jian-He, Du Hong-Mo, Guo Rong-Sheng, He Ming-Zong, Lin Cai-Ku, Li Meng-En, Ren Zhong-Yuan, Huang Jian-Wen, Ke Jing-Yuan, and Li Jian-Xing. Their dedicated efforts have led to significant progress in faculty development, infrastructure, teaching, and research, resulting in a well-established and comprehensive department.
  • Chair Lian Kun-De made tireless efforts to institutionalize departmental operations and actively drafted plans to establish a Graduate Institute of Physics. In 1995 (Minguo 84), the master's program in physics was officially approved and began admitting students. The establishment of this institute not only provided a pathway for junior and senior high school physics teachers to pursue further education but also cultivated outstanding talents for academic research and professional physics education, thereby enhancing the professional capabilities of physics teachers in southern Taiwan.
